What’s with all these guys who are considered ugly or monsters by the public,
Who fall for a beautiful girl who has some sort of quirk or talent
Who have a guy who is considered attractive and the “right choice” by the public
Who our slightly softhearted unattractive person tries to hurt or kill at some point
Oh, and all the unattractive men get a kiss from their beautiful girl, even if they don’t end up with them in the end.
So France. Care to explain?
I feel like if Alina doesn’t end up with the Darkling, Alarkling will become like Zutara and we will just ignore canon until the end of time.
the founding of hogwarts school for witchcraft and wizardry in historical context: a critical analysis
canon tells us hogwarts was founded “just over one thousand years ago” by four learned individuals: godric gryffindor, salazar slytherin, rowena ravenclaw, and helga hufflepuff. i’m here to tell you why this entire part of canon is capital-w wrong and how jkr could have potentially fixed it. this argument will be grounded in historical context, so expect a great deal of nit-picking and arguing of semantics. why is this important, you might ask? well, it’s not. but this has been on my mind more or less for the better part of a year, so i’m going to damn well write this out.
i would also like to preface my argument by this: under no circumstances do i make pretensions to be a medieval expert. i do however have a keen personal interest in the medieval period, am in my final year as a history major, and intend to pursue an honor’s dissertation in medieval studies. say it with me: i’m not an expert. this was also written in a rush of passion etc. so please forgive any small errors. here goes.
